Streamlining Quantity Take-Offs Through CAD Automation for a National Retail Program

A national retail client relied on manual take-offs from printed plans to price and order fixtures and materials across new stores and remodels. The process was time-consuming and dependent on individual estimators, creating inconsistencies across projects.

PM Design worked closely with the client and their suppliers to develop an automated approach using the client’s existing CAD system. By embedding metadata directly into CAD plans for fixtures and materials, PM Design created an automated process that generated Excel files ready for import into the client’s purchasing software, eliminating manual take-offs. Because the solution was built within the client’s existing architectural library, consistency was maintained regardless of which approved architecture firm was doing the work.
