PM Design’s site-level problem-solving has delivered measurable savings throughout the program. On one California project, a city’s requirement to remove an existing driveway for ADA compliance would have cost $75,000. PM Design worked directly with the city to propose extending the accessible path instead, reducing the cost to $15,000 and saving the client $60,000 on a single project. By maintaining proactive communication with municipalities, landlords, and Taco Bell’s internal teams, PM Design helps keep projects moving efficiently while protecting the client’s budget.
Improving Rollout Efficiency Through Value Engineering
As part of a recent value engineering initiative, PM Design conducted a comprehensive multidisciplinary review across architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. The goal was not simply to reduce costs, but to improve constructability, streamline delivery, and support future expansion.
Opportunities included optimizing building size and layout, evaluating material substitutions that maintained design intent, and identifying structural and MEP efficiencies throughout the prototype. While dozens of value-focused enhancements were implemented, none compromised the customer experience, operational functionality, or core brand identity. The result was a more efficient prototype positioned to reduce construction complexity, shorten lead times, and support scalable rollout across future locations.
